Harold Decker

    An obituary for Harold Decker, Jr. appeared in an unknown Iroquois County, IL newspaper on 17 May 1983. He was a great-grandson of George Decker.
 

    "Harold Decker, 55, Gilman, was pronounced dead at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 1983, at his home, following an apparent heart attack. An inquiry will be conducted by Iroquois County Coroner Phyllis Jameson
    He was born  May 11, 1928, at Gilman to Harold and Helen Bewsey Decker. He married Soong Nam Kim on May 25, 1955 in Seoul, Korea, and she survives.
    Also surviving are one sister, Betty McGuire, Onarga, and one brother, Ronald G. Decker, Onarga.
    Mr. Decker served with the US Army Infantry, 55th Battalion, in the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Onarga Veterans of Foreign Wars, Nick Hollingsworth Post #1903, and was a past commander of the post.
    He was the proprietor of Gilman Plumbing and Heating for a number of years. He had been employed at Gray's Material Service as a truck driver for the past six years.
    Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Reilly Funeral Home, Gilman. The Rev. Robert Blumberg will officiate, with burial in Gilman Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Onarga VFW Post.
    Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home."
